Assistant Financial Controller

Purpose of Position


The Assistant Financial Controller will be responsible for supporting the company to meet local statutory and regulatory financial compliance requirements in the APAC Region. This role ensures accurate financial and tax reports are compiled for lodgement with local regulators within the required timeframes. The role will also contribute to the company's ongoing process standardisation and improvement.


Primary Responsibilities


  1. Your primary responsibilities will revolve around the statutory and regulatory compliance of our legal entities in the APAC region, and you will be expected to:
  2. Both oversee, and actively participate in, the preparation of entity Financial Statements (including the management of statutory audits where required) and similar tax compliance activities in APAC jurisdictions.
  3. Ensure the company's statutory and regulatory compliance records are maintained with details of the latest status of filings in each of our legal entities.
  4. Work with the wider finance team to support continuous process improvement to ensure sustainable practices are implemented to keep our reconciliations, statutory and regulatory filings up to date and compliant with relevant requirements on a timely basis.
  5. Coordinate closely with the Project Directors/Managers and Operations staff to validate and consolidate project financial records while also confirming the company's agreed standards/processes are being implemented, ensuring every entity is able to meet local compliance requirements on a timely basis.


Requirements


  1. Degree in Finance, Business, Accounting or related field
  2. CA or CPA qualification
  3. Extensive experience in project and business financial compliance management reflecting professional services activities
  4. Demonstrated personal and situational awareness to build stakeholder confidence and positive relationships with individuals across all levels and areas of the firm
  5. Quick learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys challenges and problem solving, and proactively identifies opportunities for process improvement as well as self-improvement to learn new skills that benefit the team or company
  6. Ability to analyse large data sets of financial or other numerical data and prepare reports
  7. Revenue Assurance, Job Cost Accounting and Project Work Breakdown Structure expertise to ensure Projects are tracked at adequate level of detail
  8. In-depth understanding of project accounting and linkages to project management
  9. In-depth understanding of financial risk assessment and monitoring
  10. Working knowledge of ERP and BI tools
  11. Knowledge of contracting structures and regulations
  12. High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  13. High standard of written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  14. Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, particularly advanced Excel


Reporting Requirements


  1. The role will report directly to the Finance Business Partners Manager and deliver the following reporting requirements:
  2. Attendance of all meetings with Finance APAC team as required


Regional Finance assessment reports


  1. A fortnightly update on the status of KRAs, as well as any other important areas of concern
  2. Regular updates on local compliance matters for APAC Operations across the region


Relationships


  1. The role will report to the Finance Business Partners Manager, APAC
  2. The role will be required to liaise closely with the Accounting Teams, Project Managers, Project Coordinators/Operations Finances, and other employees as required
