About Our Client

Our client is a well-established international engineering group specialising in modular and prefabricated data centre solutions.

Job Summary

The Engineering Manager will lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the design, development, and delivery of modular and prefabricated data centre solutions. This role ensures technical excellence, project adherence to industry standards, and the successful execution of complex infrastructure projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers across mechanical, electrical, and structural disciplines for modular data centre projects.
  • Oversee the full engineering lifecycle from conceptual design and detailed engineering to manufacturing support and site deployment for prefabricated solutions.
  • Ensure all designs for power distribution, cooling systems (HVAC, CRAC/CRAH), and IT infrastructure meet performance specifications, industry standards (e.g., Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, TIA-942), and local building codes.
  • Drive the development of standardized modular designs and prefabrication methodologies to optimize efficiency, quality, and time-to-market.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement, and project management teams to integrate engineering designs with production processes and supply chain logistics.
  • Manage technical documentation, specifications, drawings (BIM/CAD), and bill of materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Conduct technical reviews, risk assessments, and problem-solving for complex engineering challenges throughout project execution.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies to ensure project requirements are captured and approvals are secured.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree or professional engineering license (P.Eng/Chartered Engineer) highly preferred.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in engineering design and project management within the Architecture, Building, and Construction (ABC) industry, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
  • Demonstrable expertise in modular construction, prefabrication, or containerized solutions, particularly for data centres, critical power, or cooling infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry standards and codes, including Uptime Institute Tiers, ASHRAE guidelines, TIA-942, NFPA, and local building regulations.
  • Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks) and simulation tools for thermal, structural, or electrical analysis.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams, manage complex projects, and drive technical innovation in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.
