About Our Client

Our client is a Malaysian electromechanical construction firm with over two decades of experience delivering specialized data center infrastructure and modular solutions.

Job Summary

This role serves as the primary site authority for electrical safety and energy control within a hyperscale data center construction environment. The position focuses on governing all energized work, isolating power sources, and ensuring that construction and commissioning activities do not compromise live operations or safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the definitive site expert for electrical safety, overseeing the creation, review, and approval of all energy isolation plans, risk assessments, and method statements.
  • Enforce strict adherence to Lockout/Tagout protocols by verifying that every energy source is correctly identified, secured, tested, and documented prior to the start of any task.
  • Conduct regular field inspections and audits to ensure that energy isolation practices and temporary power installations meet all regulatory and project-specific standards.
  • Coordinate with client operations teams to manage work interfaces in live environments, ensuring that all activities near critical infrastructure preserve business continuity and uptime.
  • Facilitate the safe execution of commissioning phases by reviewing switching programs, witnessing critical energization events, and confirming system readiness before power is applied.
  • Lead the analysis of electrical incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to identify root causes, implement corrective measures, and disseminate lessons learned across the project team.
  • Participate in Management of Change reviews to assess and mitigate operational impacts associated with maintenance, cutovers, and shutdown activities.

Requirements

  • Hold a diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • Possess at least three to five years of hands-on experience in electrical safety, energy isolation, or commissioning within mission-critical sectors.
  • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in Lockout/Tagout procedures, energy isolation planning, and electrical switching protocols.
  • Have a proven track record of working in high-stakes environments such as live data centers, semiconductor facilities, or hospitals.
  • Exhibit strong communication abilities and incident management skills to effectively coordinate with diverse stakeholders including subcontractors, construction teams, and client representatives.
